Objective

To mark its 15th anniversary, Ubisoft Toronto sought to celebrate the studio’s legacy while engaging the wider community. Partnering with Doors Open Toronto, one of the city’s most iconic cultural festivals, the goal was to open the studio to the public, inviting fans and curious minds to go behind the scenes of how some of the world’s most recognizable games are created.

Our Approach

Yellow House Events collaborated with Ubisoft Toronto to design a curated, immersive studio tour that highlighted 15 years of innovation and creativity while focusing on key games and milestones. Guests were guided through a series of vignettes, each dedicated to a different game or milestone in the studio’s history. Key elements included:

  • Immersive Storytelling: Interactive displays featuring props, artifacts, and authentic tools used in game development.
  • Motion Capture Magic: Hand-constructed mocap set pieces brought the technology behind game animation to life.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Insights: Developers and staff engaged directly with visitors, answering questions and offering personal perspectives on the creative process.
  • Blurring Digital and Physical Worlds: Each space encouraged guests to interact, discover, and experience the storytelling process behind Ubisoft’s globally renowned titles.

The event design balanced fan engagement with education, ensuring both gamers and first-time visitors left with a new appreciation for the artistry behind game development.

  • Record-Breaking Attendance: Over 7,500 guests visited, making it the highest-attended location in the history of Doors Open Toronto.
