Confessions of a Travel Bug. By our resident travel expert, Jenn Cole.
So, you say you wanna travel for work, do ya? Well, I’ve logged enough miles this year to make your dial spin! I’ve produced many successful events, emailed in almost every airport in the Country and even managed to learn a few tricks along the way. So after a whirlwind year of planes, trains and automobiles, here are my my top 3 tips on how to make the most out of travelling for work. Because in our agency, we believe there’s always room for a little fun!
- Get cozy with WiFi
First of all, make Wifi your BEST friend! Whenever, wherever you can, you should always get your Wifi on. It’s easy to forget as we all have data on our smartphones and various mobile devices but to save money and stay connected, Wifi really is key. It’s available almost everywhere you go and all you have to do is ask to get the login deets. Not only does it tend to move more quickly than your roaming data, it also saves dollar bills, and who doesn’t love a good deal? We sure do and we bet your clients will too.
- Drop the extra baggage
Second, where possible, pack light. Toting your carry on in lieu of checking your baggage is a great way to save time and money both coming and going. You’ll be able to breeze through electronic check-in AND, you won’t be able to help yourself from beaming your pearly whites as you sail past the gaggle of passengers waiting at the baggage carousel. Smile on my friend, smile on!
- Be a little indulgent.
Finally, no matter how grueling your schedule, always, always make room for a little “me” time. It’s key to find at least 30 minutes in your day that are free of meetings, calls & site-visits. It can be tough, but this time should also be without your phone. Yup, I did it, I went there. It’s easy to miss out on a beautiful city, sunset or hidden gem while your head is pointed down. Even if it’s just to grab a quick bite in a local hot spot or to soak in the hotel’s hot tub, –you’ll feel energized and excited about the city you’re in if you can make the time to do something local while you’re there.
Well, there you have it. My top 3 tricks for making the most of your life as a travel bug. Still want more?
