It’s a Wrap! [And on the 13th Day – They Rested!]
We have wrapped up – and put a bow on – our 12 Days of Christmas Kindness for 2014. What a run it has been! Not only have we supported and promoted great non-profit organizations, we have had a blast along the way.
At YellowHouse we believe that a well-rounded business model including active community involvement is not only important to running a successful business, it’s also key to employee happiness in the work place. This is why we are so proud of our Starfish program, committing to donate 1% of our sales to our charitable partners.
Giving back, at any level, makes us all feel good and spreading good cheer is something we can certainly get behind at this time of year! Led by our Marketing and Events Producer Jackie Cormier, we put together a calendar that would act as an advent calendar of good deeds, opening the door to a unique act of kindness each day for 12 days.
We focused on charities that our clients support as well as some of our personal favs. Our efforts really did span the gamut: from food and toy drives, to building gingerbread houses with critically ill children, to volunteering in soup kitchens and dropping off gifts to families in need. Our whole team was involved and collectively we have now donated hundreds of hours to acts of kindness but best of all, having a great time doing it!
To promote the great work our partner organizations are doing, we captured everything through our social media under the hashtag #12DAYSxK and created a unique sub-site that would detail our progress. We also created a YouTube video.
As a result, the most amazing thing happened … we started to see an incredible outpouring of support. The community and our followers helped out more than we could have hoped for and our website & social media channels received a record number of unique hits, likes and shares, which was a bonus. You helped us to reach so much farther than we could have on our own and for this, we’d like to thank all of you!
We hope that our campaign inspires and brings cheer this Holiday season. I know that in ‘da House’, we can’t wipe the smiles off our faces.
