On the Job in Punta Cana – by Grail Noble
Business travel is a big part of what we do…but site inspections for incentive programs are the best! You get to see and do it all in a short period of time and you have to taste all the food … as part of your job! Tough gig – but someone had to do it.
So, Ivonne Sanchez (Program Lead on our latest new business win) and I “took one for the team” and headed down to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to check out our resort of choice.
The Dominican is a great location for group incentive programs, particularly the south coast area we visited. It is a relatively safe country, with beautiful, sandy beaches and low-rise buildings. You don’t stroll the beach in the shadows of 20-story hotels…but rather have the feeling of being on a deserted island with mature, tall palms and gentle breezes. The lush, tropical landscape is home to exotic wildlife and some of the friendliest people I have met anywhere. The resorts here are equipped with everything you could imagine to keep guests of all ages entertained – from Salsa dancing, Spanish and cooking lessons, to golf, beach-buggy safaris and zip lining.
If your group is looking for something more relaxing, we were also treated to an incredible spa at Dreams Resort and offerings of yoga and wellness programs abound. This island offers a cost-effective, all-inclusive solution to groups and the experience begins on arrival. It was love at first sight for us as we landed in Punta Cana to an airport terminal made entirely out of thatch, with live music playing and friendly customs agents.
We cannot wait to bring our 200 guests here in March 2014. Ready the rum. Here we come!
